I am not sure what expectations I had but we went a little before closing on a Sunday, and the line was out the door. They have the menu on the wall with the flavors available and as well as their seasonal flavors. They also some of the cakes on display so that you can see what they look like with a description of the cake itself. The line did move very fast and there is seating there to enjoy the cakes in house. You do bus your own table when done. We ordered a few slices and they were all delicious and decadent. The salted caramel with a nice caramel glaze, this was on the sweeter side. The butterfinger seemed to the same chocolate cake but the icing and peanut butter made this one of my favorite slices. There were also small specs of butterfinger candies in it. The strawberry shortcake was really good as well. The icing was light and the perfectly complimented the cake and strawberry filling. The slices are around the $10+ mark for each slice and they also offer small cupcakes. We had plenty leftover and took the cakes home. They are most definitely better served chilled than at room temperature.

Delicious. Kinda expensive for just a slice of cake but it's a real treat and it was too much to eat it all in one sitting for me. 9lb porter is exactly the kind of chocolate cake I want when I think of chocolate cake. Super rich, thick, and fudgy. Triple coconut was lighter and I loved the mousse on the inside. Strong coconut flavor. Would love to come back and try more flavors

I have managed to find a few great bakeries that fairly close in proximity to me, but none of them compare to Deep Sea Sugar & Salt. The attention to every single detail is by far one of the best (look at how uniformed each layer of my 6' poppyseed cake.) I typically prefer a cookie, or mini dessert for my birthday because traditionally cakes are overly sweet and loaded with more icing than cake, or the cake itself is dry but the Black Currant Poppyseed cake was just the opposite. The flavor of the vanilla, and black currant was the perfect balance of subtle sweetness and brightness from the black currant jam was EXACTLY what I wanted; it was PERFECT. My husband has already requested the seasonal Strawberry Shortcake for his birthday next month. If you're considering just going to the bakery to order a variety of slices I highly recommend going early, when I went to pick my cake up there was a quarter of one cake left to slice and that was at 1pm. The online ordering process is really easy, and allows for specific customization (flower, gold leaf, and script add ons.) The customer service was great and really prompt; there is also a pick up window for preorders. The bakery itself is fairly large, accessible parking, and has ample indoor seating for customers to enjoy their slices; again come early if you want to select from a variety of flavors. When looking for cake do yourself a favor by going to Deep Sea Sugar & Salt; I highly recommend!

Love the new cute (and spacious) location and not waiting in line for cake! You still have to get there earlier in the day if you want the widest selection of cake. I went on a Saturday afternoon (2 hours before closing) and predictably many of the cakes were sold out. I think there were three choices left, but luckily there were still several cupcakes to choose from. Service is really friendly and it's nice to be able to eat in and enjoy a coffee with your treats. These are some of the top cakes and cupcakes in Seattle, bar none. Become a regular so you can get to know their standard flavors and monthly specialties. The slices are generous!

Why didnt i know about this place sooner. Cake makes me happy. Their cake makes me happy. Its rare for a cake specialty shop in seattle that offers in store seating. The staff were very patient with us as we got puzzled from the amazing options they had! I cant wait to come back.

Very lucky we arrived just before everything was gone! The cakes are incredible in size and flavor! We had the Chocolate Salted Caramel, Carrot Pineapple, and the Cookies and Cream. Each cake was super moist and done in a jiffy! The shop sells merchandise other than their cakes. Service was quick and expect lines to form suddenly!

Some of the best cake in Seattle! Seeing all the cakes in the display is so hard to help decide which ones you want. I've tried the monthly flavors twice now and the london fog. The cake is so moist and fluffy. Each bite is packed with flavor and the perfect amount of sweet! My boyfriend and I split two slices and always have plenty of leftovers! They have a few seats so you can enjoy a slice there. I loved the pink walls and seating areas they had. They just moved locations and are going to be adding some alcohol beverages! I can't wait to try all the other flavors and enjoy a glass of wine here soon

I've been following Deep Sea on social media for a while and finally got to try them recently! It took me 2 days to finish the wonderful slice of vanilla bean cake I bought! It was rich and wonderful without being overly sweet. I can't wait to try more!

My first time visiting after they moved to this new location. This place shares the building with a brewery. Indoor seating is available. Cake slices are still delicious, but I feel like it's a bit smaller-thinner than before, especially for $10-$11 per slice. I usually come to try the seasonal/monthly specials.

This is my friend's favorite cake shop in Seattle, and knowing how much I love all things cake, she made it a point to stop by so that I could get a taste of one of Seattle's best cakes! Because I'm not from Seattle, I have no idea regarding the location - only that it was located near a residential area. We quickly found parking and made our way to the small storefront. Deep Sea Sugar & Salt offers whole cakes (by pre-order only), slices of cakes, and cupcakes. They make a set number each day, so it's recommended to come early to be able to snag the flavor(s) that you want. They offer their regular flavors as well as seasonal flavors. Prices are not cheap, but I would say it's well worth it. The weekend that we visited, they offered several July seasonal flavors (S'mores, Arnold Palmer) as well as their weekend specials (strawberry custard and Samoa). My friend was tempted by their specialty flavors and ended up ordering the S'mores and Arnold Palmer (each was $11 per slice). I had a more difficult time choosing between the Lemon Cream and Funfetti, but I went with my heart and chose the Funfetti - $10.50 - (which was probably the better decision). We actually didn't eat the cake slices until maybe the next day, but my friend (who is an experienced Deep Sea Sugar & Salt customer) said that they can be stored in the fridge and defrosted and still taste great. Slices are pretty thin actually, but because the cakes are a little dense and there's layers of frosting, we weren't even able to finish the slice in one sitting. Out of the three flavors that we ordered, my favorite was the Funfetti. The cake was moist and not overly sweet. Definitely reminded me of my childhood. Loved the sweetness of the frosting. I would say that eating small bites at a slow rate allowed me to feel less guilty about my sugar consumption. Arnold Palmer and S'mores were both okay. Neither slice was dry, even though we ate it a day later, but I think I didn't really enjoy S'mores because there was marshmallow fluff on top instead of frosting. The slices were filled with chocolate cream, which I also am not a big fan of. I probably wouldn't order this again, but my friends liked it. As for the Arnold Palmer, the flavors were subtle but a little muted. I don't think I got much of the iced tea or lemonade. It just tasted like a more healthy cake. Likely will pass on this flavor the next time around. Unfortunately out of the three, only one was a win for me. The other two were decent but not the flavors I'd go for. And definitely wouldn't pay that much for. If I lived in Seattle, I probably would return often to check out the other seasonal flavors. And get that Funfetti again.
